(WCSC) - Following the death of a lead investigator within the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office from the coronavirus, longtime colleagues say his dedication to the job will be irreplaceable, while also reflecting on the continued dangers of COVID among first responders. On Saturday, Detective Sgt. Edward Marcurella died after a short battle with COVID-19 and pneumonia. Colleton County Sheriff’s deputy Jason Chapman said Marcurella was passionate and extremely active in fighting human trafficking and crimes against children.
