Indy Airport Unveils Mural Honoring Madam C.J. Walker
INDIANAPOLIS The next time you visit Indianapolis International Airport, take a moment to enjoy the new mural depicting Madam C.J. Walker.
The mural, at 11-feet high and more than 75-feet long, is titled
Entrepreneurs Awakening: The Making of a Legacy and it honors Madam Walker’s life and lasting contribution as the first self-made Black female millionaire.
“This endeavor has been in the works for more than a year, and it took a diverse group of community partners and talented individuals to bring it to life,” said Indianapolis Airport Authority Executive Director Mario Rodriguez. “It is an incredible piece of artwork, worthy to represent the tremendous inspiration Madam Walker is to the history of American entrepreneurship and our great city.”

Fans Can Relive IMS History, More through Exclusive Digital Content Leading to Indy 500

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway and INDYCAR are offering race fans a great, entertaining history lesson through rich digital content and exclusive interviews leading up to the 105th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on Sunday, May 30.
IMS launched today an immersive, in-depth content series chronicling the most iconic anniversaries and milestones of 2021, reminding fans that the Racing Capital of the World is the place “Where Tradition Never Stops,” a content theme with much more to come that celebrates the Indianapolis 500, GMR Grand Prix and all other Month of May events.

A petition addressing âartists, cultural leaders, advocates, and allies against racismâ began circulating on Feb. 14, calling for signatures. The petition stated that the wording of the job description âblatantly detailed the way in which systemic racism permeatedâ Indianapolis.Â
Among the demands of the petition â just like the open letter from the group of Newfields staff and board members â was for Venableâs resignation. By 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 17, there were 2031 signatures on the petition.
