Arts groups in Singapore rush to reconfigure concerts, live shows before new Covid-19 rules kick in

SINGAPORE - Arts groups and concert promoters are scrambling to adapt live performances after the authorities announced new restrictions on Tuesday (May 4) to curb a spike in Covid-19 cases. From Saturday to May 30, the maximum number of people allowed at live performances will be reduced from 750 to 250 attendees - or just 100, if there is no pre-event testing. Social gatherings will be capped at five people, down from eight. The Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) has introduced additional show times for two of its concerts to avoid pre-event testing. The orchestra s executive director Terence Ho said they had already begun making contingency plans after hearing about the new Covid-19 clusters.

Return of concerts, festivals set the stage for Singapore s entertainment renaissance

/ Posted on 29 April, 2021 17:47 Festivals, performances and concerts are returning with a vengeance as Singapore relaxes public event restrictions, poising the country as a high-potential destination for entertainment-driven, post-Covid travel. This follows the successful month-long pilot in September last year, which saw the return of live performances at selected venues for a maximum of 50 spectators. As of April 24, 2021, this number has increased to 750 with pre-event testing and 250 without pre-event testing, and zoning will no longer be required as long as safe management measures are in place. For a glamorous ride, the Crazy Rich Asians tour whisks you on a trail of the movie’s filming scenes, from Gardens by the Bay and Chjimes to Bukit Pasoh Road’s Humpback restaurant. The tour ends with a cocktail-making workshop by the mixologists at Mandarin Oriental’s MO Bar.
