Dr. Saha, a Newton International fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences working at Newcastle University, U.K., outlines how a DNA damage response pathway inhibitor, i.e. poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitors (PARPi), can be used to serve as reliable cancer therapies to ameliorate cisplatin toxicity whilst also targeting hypoxic tumor cells for the treatment of cervical and other cancers, where cisplatin-based chemo-radiotherapy is the standard treatment.
