Discounts of up to 80 per cent off fashion and homeware items and 70 per cent off beauty and fragrance are available whilst stocks last. A spokesperson for Debenhams said: “We are now heading into the final days of our closing down sale and this is the very last chance for our customers to take advantage of some incredible deals. With up to 80 per cent off across our remaining stores, customers are urged to shop now while stocks last. Over the next 10 days, Debenhams will close its doors on the high street for the final time in its 242 year history. Our sincere thanks go out to all of our colleagues and customers who have joined us on this journey.
IT S been a sad week for Colchester. Debenhams, one of the town s largest stores, is officially closing as part of a multi-million pound takeover by fashion retailer Boohoo. The online giant has bought the brand but is not taking on its stores or workforce. Debenhams stores will therefore close for good as part of a structured winding down of the business. As many as 12,000 staff are set to lose their jobs, including those who work in the Culver Street West store, in Culver Square Shopping Centre. It s a huge blow for the town, given that Debenhams has been one of Colchester s favourite and most popular stores since opening in October 1987.
