The Kalkaska County Sheriff’s Office says a child has died following an accidental shooting in Rapid River Township Monday morning.
Deputies responded to a 911 call around 11:50 a.m. and found a five-year-old boy had been shot in the head by another child in the home.
Eight children between the ages of five and 15 were in the home at the time of the incident, but according to the sheriff, there were no adults in the home at the time.
The Sheriff’s Office says the incident is currently under investigation.

One woman has died and two others are in the hospital following an accident in Kalkaska County Thursday evening.
The Kalkaska County Sheriff’s Office says deputies came across an accident on Ingersoll Road west of Creighton Road around 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
Three people were outside of vehicle and one was trapped inside.
The SUV was driving west on Ingersoll Road when the driver lost control in a curve. Two occupants were ejected and two passengers wearing seat belts were not ejected.
Haley Stangler from Kingsley passed away in the accident.
Two of the passengers were taken to Munson Medical Center in Traverse City and the other passenger refused medical treatment.

KALKASKA COUNTY, MI – Alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in a Northern Michigan rollover crash that killed one person and injured two others.
Haley Nicole Stangler, 21, of Kinglsey was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred on Ingersoll Road west of Creighton Road in Kalkaska County around 8:27 p.m. on Thursday.
According to the Kalkaska County Sheriff’s Office, Stangler was in a blue, 2009 Pontiac SUV traveling west on Ingersoll Road. The driver failed to control the vehicle upon reaching a curved portion of the roadway and the vehicle rolled several times, police said.
