Outlaw Fire burns 30 acres
A wildfire burning 10 miles outside of Capitan, New Mexico reportedly consumed about 30 acres of wildland.
The fire, dubbed the Outlaw Fire, was detected June 14 near White Oaks and 10 miles northwest of Capitan around 9 p.m. inside the Lincoln National Forest.
Officials believed the fire was the result of lightning. It was detected during a flyover of the area by an airplane known to the firefighting community as an air attack aircraft.
According to the U.S. Forest Service, four wildland fire engines, one helicopter, two single-engine airtankers, and one large airtanker worked to suppress the fire which was only about 3 acres when first detected.
