The Board of Trustees of The College of DuPage approved a $587,773.00 restitution payment from Vortex Commercial Flooring Inc. during the December 2020 board meeting. Vortex Commercial Flooring Inc., a Chicago-area commercial flooring contractor, has been charged for its role in a long-running antitrust conspiracy to rig bids and fix prices for commercial flooring services and products sold in the United States, the Department of Justice announced. Vortex has agreed to plead guilty and pay at least $1.4 million in fines and restitution for its role in the conspiracy and to cooperate in the Division’s ongoing investigation. This is the second corporate guilty plea in this investigation. Four flooring executives, including two from Vortex, have pleaded guilty as well. (

(WWSB) - New College of Florida has kicked off its search for a new president. The College’s new leader will succeed President Donal O’Shea, who retires in June. The New College Board of Trustees has appointed a search committee led by Board Chair Mary Ruiz, a 1978 graduate of New College, to conduct the national search for the college’s sixth president.

Community Policing in New London The New London Public Safety Policy Review Committee has suggested the formation of a civilian police review board and the creation of a police commission, The Day reports.  The committee, which released a 17-page report with a list of recommendations aimed at providing more community oversight and police accountability, was spearheaded by New London Mayor Michael Passero ’79 and John McKnight, Connecticut College’s dean of institutional equity and inclusion, who served as the group’s facilitator.  McKnight, the founder of Conn’s Agnes Gund ’60 Dialogue Project, said that the committee was formed in June following the death of George Floyd at the hands of police officers in Minneapolis.

Photo / File Tauranga Boys College will soon boast the city s largest school roll, according to the Ministry of Education s provisional roll data for 2021. The figures, released to the Bay of Plenty Times last month, show the city s schools continue to grow and total student numbers are expected to reach 33,821. About 659 of those will be new this year. The provisional school roll numbers are estimates and may change. Tauranga Boys College is estimated to take on the biggest roll, about 2000 students this year, overtaking previous largest, Otumoetai College, by about 180, according to the provisional figures.
