Our view: Guns may be part of our culture, but never forget the importance of training

In Cando, the teen victim died. In Grand Forks, the victim was relatively lucky – a leg wound and a trip to the hospital.
Police determined that both incidents were accidental, occurring while guns were being retrieved from vehicles.

Columbus communities look for solutions as gun violence grows

COLUMBUS, Ohio Columbus has recorded 66 homicides as of May 6, according to the division of police. That compares to 38 homicides at this time last year.
Those who live in areas where gun violence is common say it’s a complicated problem to solve.
“Half these kids don t have a mother, a father, an uncle, a cousin. That s really going to help them out or get them away from any violence,” said east Columbus resident Calvin Cox.

A question that I ask you to ponder while reading this article: What the hell is wrong with American politics and society in general? Please do not get me wrong as there is a lot of good done by individual and groups trying to make our society more harmonious. Just keep that question in the back of your minds, though. apologize for having to state it that way, but there really is no other way to put it. I am frustrated because while we are in day number 108 of the year 2021, there have been more than 150 mass shootings in the United States so far this year as per the Gun Violence Archive, and the number of gun deaths of American citizens are on the rise. Not to mention that in the Year of Lord 2020 A.D., the year of months-long lockdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there were nearly 20,000 Americans killed by gun violence, more than any other year in the last two decades, and 24,000 suicides by gun in 2020.
