Sewerage Pump Station Works, Ballina and Wardell

Date Time Sewerage Pump Station Works, Ballina and Wardell Ballina Shire Council is carrying out important maintenance to the shire’s sewerage reticulation network over the coming weeks. Our wastewater team will be applying protective coating to concrete wet wells at three sewerage pump stations. Sewage is collected within concrete wet wells until it is pumped out through a pressurised pipe system. These assets require coatings and linings to control the impacts of corrosion. Works will be carried out to the following pump stations: Corner of Grant Street and Biala Place, Ballina (week of 10 May) Corner of Richmond Street and Wilsons Street, Wardell (week of 18 May)

However, this temporary disruption is essential and will allow our Water and Wastewater Section to install a new water main,’ they said in a press release. When water returns it  may be discoloured. This is due to sediment. Please run the tap until the water runs clear. Water  may appear milky. This is caused by small air bubbles. Don’t be alarmed it is not harmful, and will settle in a short period.
