President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday sought to appease Nigerians worried by his perceived poor handling of security crisis plaguing the country, saying he could not in good conscience shirk his responsibility to secure lives.
The president, in his Christmas message to Nigerians in commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ, said the provision of security for all remains his article of faith, describing it “as a vital segment of this administration’s three-point agenda right from inception, and we must follow through with it.”

As Nigerians celebrate Christmas, the ruling All Progressives Congress APC has assured of the determination of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration to pull the nation’s economy out of recession.
APC in a statement signed by the Secretary, Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, CECPC, Sen. John James Akpanudoedehe also urged Nigerians “to imbue the true essence of Christmas giving, forgiving, love of God and love of our fellow men. We should give a helping hand to those in need and give succour to the vulnerable ones among us”.
The party said Nigeria has recorded nearly 90, 000 COVID-19 infections and about 1,236 related deaths, adding that the coronavirus remains a real and serious public health threat.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has welcomed some federal lawmakers of the House of Representatives who recently defected from some opposition political parties to the party, even as it said the ruling party is now a party of choice for progressive politicians. In a statement issued yesterday by Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, who is the Secretary Caretaker/ Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, APC recalled that on Wednesday, Hon. Aliyu Yako representing Kiru/Babeji Federal Constituency of Kano State and Hon. Danjuma Shiddi representing Ibi/Wukari Federal Constituency of Taraba State, defected respectively from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to the APC.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that the recent defections to the ruling party had shown that the party is now the choice for Nigerians and progressive-minded partisans.
The Secretary of the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee of the party, Sen. John Akpanudoedehe, in a statement issued yesterday said the mass defections to the APC was a signpost of the democratic and progressive environment the Committee has created in the APC by accommodating all interests and ensuring peace, unity, fairness, equity, justice, inclusion and entrenching internal democracy.
He welcomed the federal lawmakers of the House of Representatives who recently defected from some opposition political parties to the APC.
