A man was killed after he drove off the I-10 shoulder and into a tree Sunday afternoon.
The Florida Highway Patrol arrived at the scene, near the westbound 211 mile marker of Interstate 10, at 3:44 p.m. and began investigating, according to a FHP press release. Investigators determined the driver, the sole occupant of the SUV, left the northern shoulder of I-10 and collided with a tree in the wood line, the release said.
Leon County Emergency Medical Services assisted but the driver died at the scene. An FHP spokesperson was not immediately available for further comment.

EMS seeks levy renewal, moving offices
The 3-mill property tax was first approved by voters in 2003 for general operations
The levy and an additional 1-mill brings in about $2.6 million each year.
Administrative offices for EMS will be moving to the former Hopewell Industries building.
Also moving into the building will be the Public Defenders Office and Veterans Service Office.
COSHOCTON - Coshocton County Emergency Medical Services is seeking renewal of a levy for general operations as it prepares to move administrative offices and construction of a new facility.
Todd Shroyer, executive director for EMS, recently asked Coshocton County Commissioners to place the 3-mill property tax levy on the fall general ballot. The levy was first approved by voters in 2003. Commissioners are requesting certification of the millage from the Coshocton County Auditor s Office, which is a standard part of the process. Ballot language would also need to be finalized and approved.
