State health officials say 246 fully vaccinated Michiganders contracted coronavirus from January to March, and three have died. These are individuals who have had a positive test 14 or more days after the last dose in the vaccine series, said Lynn Sutfin, a spokesperson for the state health department.
Some of the 246 people may ultimately be excluded from the state s tally of vaccine breakthrough cases because they may have had earlier coronavirus infections and still tested positive two weeks post-immunization. These cases are undergoing further review to determine if they meet other (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) criteria for determination of potential breakthrough, including the absence of a positive antigen or PCR test less than 45 days prior to the post-vaccination positive test, Sutfin said.

Michigan is currently experiencing one of the worst coronavirus surges in the United States. On Monday, The Ingham County Health Department recommended that local schools avoid in-person learning next week for grades six through 12.
Ingham County Health Officer Linda Vail said she expects case numbers to increase as people travel for spring break this week.
“Schools are congregate settings, and are sparking off outbreaks, she said.
“There s a significant amount of transmission going on in the community, she said. There s a significant ability to basically catch that virus and then move it around, and then you re moving it around by traveling and going other places, so it s just a good time to be safe.”

I think this is a smart idea. My daughter is on spring break this week and she is spending time relaxing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I know a lot of families who are doing the same thing before school starts back up next week.
