Posted by Melissa Mattson | May 6, 2021 County Health Officer Penny Borenstein clarifies that the county has no intention to implement Vaccine Passports SAN LUIS OBISPO The San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors held a regularly scheduled meeting on May 4 from 9 a.m until 11:35 p.m. The meeting opened with public comment, which focused mainly on item 13, the request for the Board of Supervisors to sign and send a letter to the State Water Resource Control Board opposing two applications to appropriate water for the Shandon-San Juan Water District. Supervisor Bruce Gibson moved for approval of the consent agenda with exception of item 13. His discussion on item 13 indicated that there was not enough information on the item for the Board to make a decision and should be tabled for future discussion.

SLO County to return to traditional voting for future elections SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif. - The San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors has decided to return to the traditional method of polling stations and precincts for future elections in the county. Due to Covid-19, a new and different model was used in the General Election last November with all registered voters in the county receiving a ballot in the mail. Those ballots could be mailed back, dropped off at newly created Voter Service Centers or in-person at the County Clerk-Recorder s office. SLO County saw a record-breaking 88 percent voter turnout for the November general election which was fourth highest in the state.

However, on Dec. 8, the office discovered a sealed official ballot drop box that contained voted vote-by-mail ballots that were deposited prior to the Nov. 3 deadline at 8 p.m. The drop box in question was located outside of the Bell Memorial Union at Chico State, and was not included in the certified results published on Nov. 30, according to County Clerk-Recorder, Candace Grubbs.
