Mental Health Task Force Being Developed in Madison County
One of the biggest issues facing our nation right now is the mental health crisis. It is such a broad spectrum of issues, but one New York county is looking to improve it.
Madison County Chairman John Becker has announced that he is putting together a task force to help assist those struggling with the mental health crisis. To better understand and get to a solution, county officials are establishing a group to develop a comprehensive mental health needs assessment to determine what the priorities in the county should be.
With the establishment of this group, the hope is to develop short term, mid-range and long term goals to assist with the development of needed programs and services to aid those struggling with mental health issues. Chairman Becker says,
John Bailey and the Hamilton area Anti-Racism Coalition wrote a letter in January to the Board of Supervisors shortly after the incidents Jan. 6 at the United States Capitol Building. The HAARC told the board that the same Thin Blue Line flag that was above the Madison County Public Safety Building at the time was seen carried inside the Capitol in Washington, D.C., that day.
The HAARC asked the Board of Supervisors to immediately instruct Madison County Sheriff Todd Hood to remove the flag and to also keep it from flying at any other county building.
“It has no place on any public building of Madison County and for that matter any in these United States,” Bailey wrote.
