Health leaders get creative to get people vaccinated

BUFFALO, N.Y. According to New York State Health Department data, nearly 50% of all New Yorkers have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine and local health departments have been shifting efforts as they try to get as many people as they can vaccinated.
Just a month ago, the Transit Drive-In, a Niagara County mass vaccination clinic, was vaccinating 3,000 to 4,000 people within a two day span but Public Health Director Dan Stapleton said those numbers have been dropping.

Erie County has launched a new program where they will come to your home to give you and your family the COVID-19 vaccine. Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz tweeted,
VAX VISITS!! A new program for Erie County residents. A team will come to your home to vaccinate you or your household. Call (716) 858-2929 to schedule an appointment.
The County and New York State are encouraging people to get vaccinated so we can get back to business and fully reopen. Poloncarz tweeted,

Six Flags Darien Lake
Six Flags Darien Lake is teaming up with the Genesee County Health Department to offer a free COVID-19 vaccination clinic Tuesday.
Vaccines will be given at the park’s Human Resources Building 1 p.m.-5 p.m. Anyone participating will receive two complimentary tickets to visit the park in 2021.
Walk-ins will be accepted for the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Appointments are required for the two-dose Pfizer vaccine and can be made on the state’s vaccine website.
Over the weekend, Erie County offered its Shot and Chaser program, which provided a free beer with each person s vaccination shot at Resurgence Brewing Co. County Executive Mark Poloncarz said the line was out the door, as more people were vaccinated in a few hours than during a full 12-hour day at usual county clinics.

The New York State attorney general is expanding his investigation into sexual assault allegations against Governor Andrew Cuomo to include new charges that an aide to the governor linked access to the coronavirus vaccine to support for the governor.

Wall Street Journalis reporting that half a dozen Democratic Party county executives were contacted by Larry Schwartz, a volunteer adviser who oversaw vaccine distribution for the state. The executives believed they were being contacted about the vaccine but Schwartz asked them about their position on whether Cuomo should resign.
