Westchester Women’s Advisory Board Holds First Virtual Town Hall Event Entitled “Staying Sane in a Pandemic” Written by Westchester County
The Westchester County Women’s Advisory Board (WAB) held its first ever virtual town hall event – entitled “Staying Sane in a Pandemic” – aimed at providing helpful answers and resources to Westchester’s women during these unprecedented times.
The session began with a welcome by County Executive George Latimer, who thanked the WAB for hosting the important event.
Latimer said: “This event is another example of the innovative work being done by Westchester County to reach residents with the vital information they need during a time when traditional ways of reaching residents are not accessible. Congratulations to the WAB on their successful first event.”

The Westchester County Department of Consumer Protection is warning all Westchester residents to be vigilant for Covid-19 vaccine scams as we enter the next phase of the pandemic.
Westchester County Executive George Latimer said: “There are vaccine scams out there. People may solicit you, may sound professional and look for money and information from you to get a vaccine. Don’t fall for it and don’t pay attention to it.”
Consumer Protection Director Jim Maisano said: “If you get a call, text, email or even someone knocking on door claiming they can get you early access to the vaccine, hang up, delete or close the door – stop all communication immediately. It s a scam every time.”
County Police Welcomes 8 New Officers Written by Westchester County
Diverse group of experienced officers to begin field training immediately
Eight new police officers were sworn into the ranks of the Westchester County Police this week by County Executive George Latimer and Public Safety Commissioner Thomas A. Gleason.
The eight officers have previous police experience and transferred to the Department of Public Safety from three municipal police departments in Westchester.
The new officers are: Clinton Boxhill, Abdu Lawrence, Conrado Builes Ramirez, Alberto Ramos, Rasau Romeo, Nicholas Smith, Thomas Hagan and Kristin Reilly.
“This is a diverse group of officers who bring significant experience and talents to the Westchester County Police,” Latimer said. “We are pleased to have them in our ranks and I wish them much success in their careers with the County Police.”

For the second year in a row, Westchester County Executive George Latimer has cut the Westchester County tax levy by $1 million dollars. Latimer signed the budget flanked by nurses at the Westchester County Health Department Clinic highlighting the unprecedented year that 2020 has been, and the extraordinary work of our healthcare professionals.
In the midst of a crippling pandemic and an economic downtown, Latimer kept his promise to the people of Westchester and signed the 2021 budget not only cutting taxes, but also maintaining all County services, and cutting expenditures by $15.7 million dollars in the $2.091 billion dollar budget.

The only people out Thursday morning were those clearing away the snow and a few dedicated people who had to get to work.
Treacherous roads made for dangerous driving conditions all over the Hudson Valley. Road crews in Westchester County were busy all night amid the accumulating snow.
