Jun 11, 2021 / 01:51 PM EST MUNCIE, Ind. (WISH) Felony and misdemeanor charges against a Muncie man have been dropped more than three years after his arrest in Delaware County. The following charges against Lorenzo Reyes were dropped on Thursday: disarming a law enforcement officer battery resulting in moderate bodily injury operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person domestic battery Court documents show the reason listed for dismissal is “in the best interest of justice.” Reyes was arrested on June 5, 2018, following a traffic stop in Muncie. According to a police report filed by former Muncie police officer Dalton Kurtz, Reyes resisted arrest and attempted to disarm Kurtz.

View Comments MUNCIE, Ind. A Delaware County man who was shot by Muncie police after he set his house on fire was sentenced this week to two years on probation. Gary Dale Mort  now 59 and a resident of Eaton  had pleaded guilty to arson, a Level 4 felony carrying up to 12 years in prison. However, a plea agreement placed a two-year limit on the sentence Mort received this week from Delaware Circuit Court 1 Judge Marianne Vorhees. When Muncie police officers and firefighters were called to Mort s home, in the 3700 block of North Franklin Street, on June 29, 2018, they were told he was  suicidal, had kicked (his wife) out of the house and had set the residence on fire.

Attorneys have weighed in as a Delaware County man convicted in a murder-for-hire plot continues his pursuit of a new trial. Jess David Woods, now 69, was convicted of murder and conspiracy to commit murder in 2009. He was later sentenced to 100 years in prison by Delaware Circuit Court 3 Judge Linda Ralu Wolf. Woods formerly of the Daleville area  was convicted of fatally shooting 29-year-old Teresa French at her family s Cromer Avenue home in May 1993.  Authorities said French s estranged husband, Anthony, had hired Woods to kill her. At a hearing last November, Woods and his attorney, Eric Koselke of Indianapolis, requested post-conviction relief in the form of a new trial.
