Prosecutors in Delaware County are seeking the death penalty for a Columbus man charged with fatally shooting his 17-month-old daughter and wounding the child s mother last week.
William S. Roberts, 28, of the Far North Side, was indicted Wednesday by a Delaware County grand jury on 12 charges including aggravated murder stemming from what Columbus police say was a domestic incident that turned deadly.
It all began around 9:30 p.m. July 20 at a home on the 1500 block of Sarin Street near Polaris in a portion of the city of Columbus that is in Delaware County. The aggravated murder charge carries specifications that would make it a death penalty case under the Ohio Revised Code, alleging that Roberts attempted to kill at least two people and that one of the victims was under the age of 13.
