MITCHELL A Mitchell, Indiana man arrested in January on charges of dealing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine and unlawful possession of syringes was found not guilty by a jury on Tuesday.
Michael Huff, 43, was released from Lawrence County jail Tuesday after approximately 175 days in jail. His cash-only bond had been set at $200,000.
The trial was held in Lawrence Superior Court II, where jurors listened to witnesses and watched body-cam footage.
“We tried the case with the evidence we had. The jury made the ultimate decision, and the jury is always correct, Lawrence County Prosecutor Sam Arp said.
Huff’s Indianapolis-based attorney, Denise Turner, said the case came down to the testimony of 32-year-old co-defendant Jennifer East, who was offered a plea deal in exchange for her testimony.

(LAWRENCE CO.) – Lawrence County Council members approved giving a stipend to some Lawrence County employees from COVID-19 relief funds.
The last Lawrence County Council meeting for 2020. David Flinn served Lawrence County residents for 16 years. Jim Edwards has served the Lawrence County Council for 22 years. Both Councilmen terms ended this year.
Lawrence County full-time employees who were hired before December 1, 2020, will receive $1,000 and permanent part-time employees will receive $500. Those checks will be given out next Tuesday.
