RANTZ & RAVEZ-The long list of associated problems throughout California are related to the actions or inactions of elected and appointed officials of our city and state.
The fact that California lost one Congressional seat for the first time in state history and other states are picking up additional seats reflects the fact that businesses and residents are moving away in large numbers. This is due to some logical reasons I will explain in this edition of RantZ & RaveZ.
California spent $182 million on an outreach program encouraging everyone including immigrants to participate in the most recent Census Count. It is estimated that 70% of California’s households participated in the Census. Even with all the effort and funds pushed by officials, the state could not hold onto the 53 congressional seats and associated influence in Congress.

A California bar owner is facing felony charges after allegedly selling fake COVID-19 vaccine cards out of his business.
According to CNN, the state Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control arrested bar owner Todd Anderson, 59, on Wednesday in Clements, California, after an investigation had been opened on him. ABC reportedly received complaints that the owner was selling fake vaccine cards out of his establishment, and in April, undercover officers went to the bar and bought four fake cards from him.
The bar, called the Old Corner Saloon and located about 35 miles away from Sacramento, was also found to have an illegal firearm on the property. According to the County District Attorney’s office, Anderson is being charged with three felonies, including carrying an unregistered firearm, forgery of a government seal, and identity theft of Pfizer, CVS and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
On May 5, 2021, a Humboldt County jury found
Jason Ryan Barnes, age 48, of Eureka, guilty of one count of involuntary manslaughter for the homicide of Bernhard “Ben” Bertain and two felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon. The jury also found true the special allegations that Mr. Barnes personally caused great bodily injury or death and personally used a deadly weapon.
Barnes had been charged with second degree murder. Prior to jury deliberations, Judge Timothy Canning acquitted Mr. Barnes of that charge and the lesser included charge of voluntary manslaughter. Thus, the jurors returned guilty verdicts on the most serious charges they were allowed to consider.
