(WCSC) - The Goose Creek Police Department says a pedestrian has been killed after being hit by a car. Berkeley County Coroner George Oliver says the victim, George McKinney, 51, was from Goose Creek. GCPD say they first responded to calls about a motor vehicle striking a McKinney in the area of Highway 176 and Westview Boulevard at 6:54 p.m. Tuesday. Upon arrival, officers say they learned that a 2002 Toyota 4Runner was traveling east on Highway 176 when it struck a McKinney.

(WCSC) - Berkeley County officials have confirmed an accidental death at the Century Aluminum Mt. Holly plant. Naomi Cleaton, 63, of St Stephen, was pronounced dead after being struck by a forklift Thursday evening while working at Century Aluminum, Berkeley County Coroner George Oliver said. Century Aluminum says it is with great sadness they confirm an employee working at their Mt. Holly smelter in Goose Creek passed away Thursday after sustaining injuries at the facility.
