BIRMINGHAM The Birmingham Police Department is investigating a fatal crash involving a parked 18-wheeler.
The crash happened around 4:48 p.m., Thursday, May 13, 2021, on Interstate 59/20, between Arkadelphia Road and Bush Boulevard.
Jefferson County Coroner Bill Yates said Jonathan Hunter Martin, 31, of Birmingham, a passenger, was killed when the Ford Explorer he was traveling in struck a parked 18-wheeler on the shoulder of the roadway.

BIRMINGHAM The Birmingham Police Department is investigating the death of a 17-year-old from Pleasant Grove.
James Williams was shot at 2737 Jefferson Avenue on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, around 10 p.m.
Detectives believe Williams was visiting a friend at the location when someone fired shots from a vehicle. Williams was taken to UAB Hospital with a gunshot wound to the torso. Jefferson County Coroner Bill Yates said Williams was pronounced dead at the hospital at 11:47 p.m.
No arrests have been made.

UPDATE: The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 42-year-old Charles Eugene Mullins, of Gadsden.
EARLIER:
HOOVER The Hoover Police Department is investigating the death of a man after he fell from an overpass over Interstate 65.
The incident happened at 11:52 p.m., on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2021. Jefferson County Coroner Bill Yates said the man fell from the bridge onto I-65, at the 249.5 mile marker.
The man was taken to UAB Hospital where he died at 1:08 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 18.
