Cllr Stuart Parsons A LOCAL authority looks set to ratify a partnership with an NHS trust to introduce sweeping changes to public health services for children, which include cuts to school nursing and health visiting. North Yorkshire County Council’s executive will on Tuesday consider entering an agreement with Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust with the aim of “improving outcomes for children and their families”. The move, which has been developed over the last two years initially aimed to save £6.75m over a decade in response to Government public health cuts, which were announced a year before the pandemic.
Children enjoying the activities organised by the LS29 holiday club FUNDING from a high-profile Government programme to provide every eligible child with nutritious food and stimulating activities during school holidays will be insufficient, analysts have concluded. When the Government launched its £220m Holiday Activities and Food Programme in November following widespread pressure, including from footballer Marcus Rashford, it stated local authorities needed to ensure the offer of free holiday club provision was available to all children eligible for free school meals. However, it has emerged analysis of the £1,186,720 Government funding for the coming year given to North Yorkshire County Council, equates to just £1.25 per hour for the 11,000 eligible children.
