Snow created a slushy, wet mess and fell at a steady pace during the daytime hours Thursday, Jan. 14, in the Brainerd lakes area, and continued into the night.
The storm started with rain and brought eight hundredths of an inch of precipitation that began to freeze about 6 a.m, turning to snow, as reported at the Brainerd Water Treatment Plant. Snow continued and around 3 p.m. Thursday weather spotters began calling in their snow totals into the National Weather Service in Duluth. Snow amounts included:

SUSPICIOUS Report at 10:32 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4, of an occupied vehicle at a closed business, where the Trump Store, 14244 Dellwood Drive, is located. The person refused to identify himself, but was later identified. Officers learned the person worked at the business and was sleeping inside the building.

DISTURBANCES Report at 2:56 a.m. Tuesday of a patient causing a domestic disturbance at Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center, 323 N. Third St. the patient calmed down prior to officers arrival.
Report at 1:47 a.m. Monday of a domestic assault on the 3300 block of Oak Street. Police are preparing criminal charges for felony domestic assault charges to forward to the city’s prosecution office.

PEQUOT LAKES A 58-year-old woman was injured in a snowmobile crash Sunday, Jan. 3, in Ideal Township in Pequot Lakes.
The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office was called to the crash at 2:15 p.m. at the intersection of Crow Wing County Highway 16 and Ruttger Road. The woman, Kathryn Carlson from North Oaks, was transported by North Memorial Health Ambulance to Essentia Health-St Joseph s Medical Center.
The Breezy Point and Pequot Lakes police departments assisted the county at the scene.

CROW WING COUNTY, Minn. (FOX 9) - Authorities in northern Minnesota are warning people to check the ice thickness before venturing out onto lakes after an ATV and a fish house broke through the ice on a lake near Brainerd over the weekend.
Around 6:15 p.m. Sunday, the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office received a call that an ATV and a fish house had broken through the ice on Platte Lake, according to a news release.
Two people were able to get out of the water and to the shore. Their ATV and fish house are still in the lake.

Two people were able to reach shore safely after an ATV and fish house broke through the ice in Crow Wing County on Sunday.
According to the Crow Wing County Sheriff s Office, the ATV and fish house entered Platte Lake in the southeastern portion of the county at about 6:15 p.m.
The ATV and fish house remain in the water, the Crow Wing County Sheriff s Office reported.
Sheriff Scott Goddard issued a reminder to those wanting to venture out onto the ice that ice thickness varies and can change overnight. He asked people to be vigilant about checking ice thickness before they venture out.
