NEW DELHI: The jumbo committees formed in the Congress Tamil Nadu unit ahead of the assembly polls are not going to adversely impact the party as the move brings various factions together, senior leader Mani Shankar Aiyar said on Thursday and predicted a strong walkover for the DMK-Congress alliance over the AIADMK in the upcoming elections.
The comments by Aiyar, who has been named in several key poll-related panels of the Congress Tamil Nadu unit, come days after Congress MP Karti Chidambaram raised questions over the state unit rejig, saying such "jumbo committees" serve no purpose as no one will have any authority which would mean "no accountability".

Karti Chidambaram, an MP from Sivaganga in Tamil Nadu, tweeted, These jumbo committees serve no purpose. 32 VP, 57 GS, 104 Secretaries. None will have any authority which means no accountability.
The parliamentarian s discordant note follows his father, P Chidambaram s support to dissenters during a meeting with the Congress President Sonia Gandhi recently. He had backed calls for elections at every level and also demanded the reconstitution of the Congress Parliamentary Board.
In his tweet critical of the Tamil Nadu Congress revamp, Mr Chidambaram tagged a host of senior leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi.

In Tamil Nadu, which goes to polls in a few months from now, the Congress has traditionally only played a marginal role, mostly aligned with the DMK, a party that is looking to replace the present AIADMK regime, which is itself a part of the BJP-led NDA.

New Delhi: Facebook s India head Ajit Mohan deposed before a parliamentary panel on Wednesday and suggested that the social media company s fact-checking team has so far found no such element that necessitates a ban on the Bajrang Dal, sources said.
Mohan deposed before the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Technology, chaired by Congress leader Shashi Tharoor. The panel had called him on the issue of the citizens data safety.
