Sonia Gandhiâs letter exposes rift established and marginalised leaders in Maharashtra
Reminds Maratha leaders to be inclusive in functioning of the party and government
Congress President Sonia Gandhi s letter to Maharashtra Chief Minster Uddhav Thackeray seeking more attention and funds by the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government for disadvantaged sections is seen as a signal to Maratha leaders and state unit chief Balasaheb Thorat not to neglect such communities in the functioning of the party organisation and in governance.
Gandhi has also conveyed that the dominance of Maratha ministers and such leaders will not be tolerated as the Congress partyâs social agenda lays emphasis on the protection of the weaker sections of the society especially the dalit, Other Backward Classes (OBCs) and other marginalised.

Mumbai: A day after his appointment as Mumbai Regional Congress Committee (MRCC) president, Bhai Jagtap has begun singing âEkla Chalo Reâ for the ensuing elections to the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), by wanting his party to contest all 227 seats. ââAs captain, I am of the view that Congress should contest all 227 seats on its own in the forthcoming BMC elections,ââ he noted.
Jagtap, who is also a trade unionist, reminded that there was a time when Congress had 75 corporators in BMC. ââBut in the last 10 years, this number has come down to 30 to 35. I will fight with full strength to improve the party s tally in the civic body polls,ââ said Jagtap, after performing the customary puja at Khanderaya temple in Jejuri.
