TP-Link launches four new affordable Kasa smart home products
A smart home is a happy home as far I am concerned. Since going all-in on smart devices in my house, my life has been much improved. I can control my thermostat without getting out of bed, and when I leave a room, I can tell Google to turn off the light. If I hear a bump in the night, I can pull out my phone or tablet to monitor my Wi-Fi cameras. We are living in the future, and it is great.
Today, popular company TP-Link launches a quartet of new smart home products under its Kasa branding. There is the Kasa Smart Wi-Fi Mini Plug (EP10), Kasa Smart Wi-Fi Outdoor Plug (EP40), Kasa Spot, 24/7 Recording (KC400), and the Kasa Spot Pan Tilt, 24/7 Recording (KC410S). Basically, it is a pair of 2K Wi-Fi cameras and a couple of Wi-Fi power outlet adapters.

Smart home products are called smart mostly because of how they’re able to connect to the Internet to allow for features and experiences that may not have been possible without such a connection. In some sense, networking equipment manufacturers have the advantage of already being knowledgeable and well-known when it comes to exactly that field. It’s no surprise, then, that the likes of TP-Link have long jumped on board the smart home train and it is expanding that line with two new 24/7 recording cameras and smart plugs that can make any old appliance a bit smarter.

Designed for small electronic devices that draw less than 12 amps of power, the TP-Link Kasa Smart Lite HS-103 ($14.99) is a small single-outlet smart plug that turns traditional appliances into connected ones. It’s easy to install and can be controlled with a user-friendly mobile app or with your voice, and it works with numerous third-party smart home devices. At just under $15, it’s the most affordable smart plug we ve tested, but it won’t tell you how much power you’re using like the $17.99 Samsung SmartThings Wi-Fi Smart Plug does.
Small and Simple
The Kasa Lite plug is rated for small appliances that draw less than 12 amps, such as coffee makers, fans, and table lamps. It measures 1.5 by 2.6 by 1.5 inches (HWD), making it smaller than the SmartThings plug (1.5 by 2.6 by 2.1 inches) and just a hair bigger than the Aukey Wi-Fi Smart Plug (1.5 by 2.5 by 1.3 inches). It has a single three-prong receptacle on the front, a 3-prong plug on the back, and an on/off
