Some city council members are at odds with the city mayor over whether funding should be increased for the Kodiak Economic Development Corporation.Â
The disagreement came to light during a city council work session last week. City of Kodiak Mayor Pat Branson suggested that the city should increase nonprofit funding to the corporation from $45,000 to $60,000, as the Kodiak Island Borough has yet to allocate funding to nonprofits for fiscal 2022.Â
âI think (KEDC) is really important. We have to keep this investment, regardless of what the borough does. I would like to see that,â Branson said, referring to the boroughâs exclusion of nonprofits from the draft versions of its fiscal 2022 budget.Â
