ED Sheeran s new single Afterglow is on course to knock Ladbaby off the top spot for Christmas number one.
The singer, 29, who took a break from singing around a year ago, took to Instagram today to share the new song with his 31.7 million followers.

And the fact he s decided to release his tune this week means that he has a chance of bagging this year s Official Christmas number one, which will be announced on Friday.
Reigning champion LadBaby starts out in pole position for the UK’s Official Christmas Number 1 2020 with Don’t Stop Me Eatin’, charging out of the blocks in the biggest chart race of the year with huge sales.
The YouTubers aka Mark and Roxanne Hoyle have an impressive lead so far on the Official Chart: First Look, scoring 80,000 chart sales after 48 hours and on course to be one of the biggest opening weeks of the year.
The pair are currently the ones to beat as they set their eyes on a third consecutive Christmas Number 1 – following 2018’s We Built This City and 2019’s I Love Sausage Rolls – proceeds will once more benefit food bank charity The Trussell Trust.

A mom-and-dad YouTuber team is hoping that a charity spoof of Journey s “Don’t Stop Believin’” can become their third U.K.’s Christmas No. 1 song. The video can be seen below.
Mark and Roxanne Hoyle’s single – which also features their young sons – is titled “Don’t Stop Me Eatin’.” It follows last year’s seasonal hit “I Love Sausage Rolls,” which was a spoof of Joan Jett’s “I Love Rock ’n’ Roll.” They topped the chart in 2018 with a take on Starship’s “We Built This City” that included the line
