It will be jointly inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. PWD minister G Sudhakaran has received information that the Prime Minister will not be able to attend the inauguration. Following this, it was decided that Nitin Gadkari would attend the function. Though the work was completed a while ago, the state government had been waiting for the Prime Minister to inform his convenient date to inaugurate the bypass. The foundation stone of the Alappuzha bypass was laid in 1987. With the bypass becoming a reality, those travelling to Thiruvananthapuram region and Ernakulam region will be able to avoid the traffic block in the city by travelling along the Alappuzha beach.
