Pinole police say homicide related to family dispute

A fatal shooting in Pinole Thursday started as a dispute between family members, police said. Jeramy Dorsey, 25, of Oakland, allegedly shot a member of his family, whose identity was not immediately known, at a residence in the 1100 block of Encina Avenue, police said. Dorsey was subsequently shot by a police officer who responded to the scene. Police say body-worn camera footage shows that Dorsey fired one shot at the officer prior to being shot by the officer. The incident unfolded at about 1:10 p.m., when police were dispatched to the home on a report of a disturbance. While responding, officers  learned from the reporting party that a person had been shot and that the suspect had fled on foot. The victim died at the scene.
