Lewis Hamilton hopes his former team McLaren can compete for the Constructors’ Championship in 2021 with Mercedes power.
2020 marked the final season of McLaren’s engine deal with Renault, and for next year they will reignite their relationship with Mercedes.
The Woking outfit have been on an upward trend over the past few seasons, recovering well from their dip in the early to mid 2010s, and that hard work was rewarded with P3 in the Constructors’ Championship.
Lando Norris qualified only two-tenths slower than the fastest Mercedes at the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, giving hope that with the more powerful Merc engine in the back, McLaren could become challengers at the top again.

The achievement sparked huge celebrations in the garage, with Brown in the middle of them. At that time, he says he was thinking purely of sporting matters rather than financial ones.
“It’s sporting prestige,” he told
“The money’s obviously nice, but when you’re on the pit wall, you’re thinking about it purely from the sporting standpoint. And then you get to the office on Monday, and you think about the financial side.

In 23 races, he took six wins, seven pole positions and 15 podiums, finishing the season in P2 with 343 points, being narrowly beaten to the title by Gianluca Petecof.
Both Leclerc and Petecof drove for Prema in that campaign, and the former has been chosen to drive for the team in F3 in 2021.
