LIHEAP grants still available for locals struggling with heating costs
From Staff Reports
Peoples Gas customers can still apply for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
LIHEAP, a federally funded program by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, offers one-time grants to income-eligible utility customers that need help with heating costs. For the 2020-2021 winter heating season, the minimum LIHEAP grant is $200 which, if granted, will be applied directly to customers heating bills.
Those who are in danger of losing their heat or have an annual income of up to $19,140 or a family income up to $39,300 for a family of four are eligible to apply and can do so online through the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Access to Social Service website (COMPASS) at www.compass.state.pa.us. Applications are due by April 30.
