Former secretary-general to Parliament Viniana Namosimalua is a resilient, disciplined and visionary individual.
Speaker of Parliament Ratu Epeli Nailatikau said this during a farewell lunch hosted by the Department of Legislature last Friday.
He said she was instrumental in the re-establishment of Parliament in 2014.
“Up to her last day in office, she persisted in ensuring that the secretariat and Parliament facilities were up to standard and fulfilled the requirements of a functioning Parliament,” he said.
“This is not a task for the faint-hearted. It requires a strong head, strong vision, resilience, discipline and great humility.”

Ann Jones, MS for the Vale of Clwyd, who currently serves as the Senedd’s Deputy Presiding Officer, was brought up in Rhyl, where she has lived all her life. Before being elected to the assembly in 1999, Ann served as a Rhyl Town councillor and was the town’s mayor in 1996/7. She was also a Denbighshire County Councillor.
