The Comstock Township Clerk held an impromptu town hall meeting Tuesday, following an uproar from community members after gravesite memorials were removed from loved ones plots.
The newly-elected clerk, Nicole Beauchamp, said people were complaining of clutter at some graves sites.
Families said they were left searching for items after the township cleared off their loved one s graves at the Maple Grove Cemetery and the Comstock Cemetery, citing a 1995 township ordinance .
The ordinance states the cemetery has the right to remove any items that become unsightly or pose a maintenance issue.
