Opposition leader Anthony Albanese delivered his budget reply speech on Thursday in Parliament, promising an alternative economic recovery that works “for all Australians”. Mr Eddy commenced his role as Administrator on Wednesday 12 May 2021. He brings with him a wealth of local government experience including his most recent appointment as Interim CEO at LGPro (VIC) from July 2020-March 2021. For 13 years, Mr Eddy served at Hobsons Bay City Council including almost six years as CEO (2012-2018). Ms Wilson said she was pleased to welcome Mr Eddy to the panel, acknowledging his depth of experience in the sector and broad range of skills.

Date Time Franchise Disclosure Registry to help restore confidence in sector The Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman (ASBFEO) Bruce Billson has welcomed plans to establish a new mandatory Franchise Disclosure Registry, saying it will provide prospective franchisees with vital information needed prior to entering into a binding franchise agreement. Mr Billson says the national registry, to be released next year, will require franchisors to lodge disclosure documentation about their franchise annually. These documents will be publicly available through the registry. “There is a clear need of greater awareness in the franchise sector and this registry will certainly help restore confidence in this sector,” Mr Billson says.

New administrator announced for Whittlesea council

Michaela Meade A new administrator has been appointed to Whittlesea council. Former Hobsons Bay council chief executive Chris Eddy will join Lydia Wilson and Peita Duncan on the council’s panel of administrators. His appointment follows the resignation of former administrator Bruce Billson earlier this year. Mr Eddy most recently worked as interim chief executive at LGPro Victoria from July last year until March 2021. He was chief executive at Hobsons Bay council from 2012-2018. Ms Wilson said she was pleased to welcome Mr Eddy and acknowledged his experience in the sector. “Administrator Duncan and I are really looking forward to working together with Mr Eddy, as the panel of administrators continue to provide the organisation with governance stability and representing our rapidly growing and diverse community,” Ms Wilson said.
