U S Government to house 3,000 migrant teenagers detained at border -

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – As early as this week, the U.S. government will use a convention center in downtown Dallas to house 3,000 immigrant teenagers to ameliorate the migrant surge at the southern border. Specifically, the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center will house the youth for up to 90 days, as stated in a written notification for members of the Dallas City Council. Generally, the U.S. Border Patrol is not supposed to detain children for more than three days. However, the Border Patrol is holding children longer than that time because there is such little space in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

By QUINN OWEN and LUKE BARR, ABC News (WASHINGTON) Homeland Security chief Alejandro Mayorkas will appear before Congress for the first time as secretary on Wednesday, amid the humanitarian crisis at the southern border. A record increase in crossing attempts by unaccompanied migrant children continues to overwhelm Border Patrol resources in the southwest. Mayorkas has led the deployment of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and oversaw the reassignment of personnel from other areas of the country to aid authorities on the front lines. This week, the number of minors in Border Patrol custody ballooned to more than 4,200, according to sources familiar with the data.

Abbott: White House Needs To Answer COVID Questions On Migrant Teens

Biden Administration regarding the plan to house migrant teens in Dallas convention center.  Abbott says White House officials need to reveal if teens are being tested for coronavirus, if they ve been exposed to any variants, and if quarantine protocols are being followed. The governor also wants to know who will take care of the minors if they end up getting coronavirus.  The administration plans to put around three-thousand teens in Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center for 90 days starting today. The moves are due to a surge of unaccompanied teens at the Texas-Mexico border.  Abbott wants DPS to have access to the convention center and other holding centers to find out if they were subject to human trafficking.
