The downtown cores in Thunder Bay, Ont., spent several days gearing up for a busy weekend, in preparation of the province moving into step one of reopening on Friday.
The Cities Local Government Leadership Program was launched by the USGBC with nearly $2 million in funding from Bank of America. LEED is a green building certification program used around the world to promote the design and construction of green buildings and neighborhoods.
Should Racine end up being certified, âit will join the more than 120 cities and communities that have already achieved LEED certification,â according to the city, with a goal of achieving certification by March 31, 2022.

With the first day of spring set for Saturday, it’s time to talk about outdoor patios.
Council will examine a motion later this month to extend the Patio Program to assist local businesses to mitigate the financial impacts of the pandemic. As part of the program, council is being asked to waive annual and application fees for the 2021 season.
“Last year the city saw a total of 38 temporary patios which was up from 3 in 2019,” indicated Waterfront District BIA Coordinator Kara Pratt. “The COVID-19 mitigation worked, but I also think that the quick pivoting from the city and our businesses was a big help.”

Advertising on e-commerce sites has been a bright spot during the pandemic for retailers as online shopping takes off.
Amazon has long been the biggest ad platform but Walmart, CVS, Rite Aid and others want to challenge its dominance by pitching advertisers things like more granular data and new audiences.
