While no further details were shared regarding the Honda Civic Type R, the e:HEV model will serve as the hybrid option in its lineup. Presumably, the upcoming model will have the i-MMD system found in the Malaysian-spec City, this means that the hybrid option of the Civic will have a dual-motor setup, with its electric motor driving the car most of the time.
No official words yet if this advanced hybrid powertrain will be made exclusive for the hatch or will it also be available on the sedan. The source also mentioned that the all-new Civic is bound for a Japanese debut in August. It is however unclear if the sedan will be reintroduced in the land of the rising sun after being discontinued. For now, the ‘regular Civic’ being referred to on the report is presumably the hatchback version.
