A small group of protesters gathered near the Nevada Capitol on Saturday as law enforcement across the nation braced for potential violence in the days leading up to the presidential inauguration.
The scene along Carson City s main drag, though, was largely calm on Saturday afternoon. A handful of Capitol police watched as people stood with signs where protesters had been gathering on a weekly basis since last summer. Some of the participants were armed.
Many more people decided to show their support by driving past the group holding signs out their car window, honking or revving their engine.
Multiple people held signs reading Stop the Steal, referring to the baseless assertion that President Donald Trump won 2020 presidential election. At one point, 10 minutes of a speech given by Trump was blared over a speaker system set up by protesters.
