ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office is looking into the alleged theft of several power tools and electrical supplies.
Deputies say it happened at a commercial construction site on Route 221 in the town of Willet between Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning. Copper wire and copper fittings were also allegedly stolen. The sheriff’s office is asking the public for help in the case.
They’re also reminding people to make sure their homes and all outbuildings are locked and secured. Tags:

A bald eagle, injured on the side of a busy New York road, is safe thanks to a New York State Trooper.
A driver noticed the injured bird and contacted the State Police. Trooper Bryan Whalen responded and noticed the bald eagle on the side of State Route 17 in the Town of Blooming Grove. The eagle appeared noticeably injured, said State Police.

Trooper Whalen used his Division issued jacket and a K9 Trooper’s bite sleeve to corral the eagle and safely put it into a kennel that was provided by the Warwick Valley Animal Rescue. The Eagle was transferred to Officer Nicole Duchene from the Department of Environmental Conservation who transported the eagle to a Rehab Facility in New Paltz to be taken care of. Job well done by Trooper Whalen.

Update: I-81 near Cortland reopens after tractor-trailer crash
Updated Jan 28, 2021;
Update: The crash has been cleared and the highway has reopened, according to the state Department of Transportation.
McGraw, N.Y. All southbound lanes of Interstate 81 near Cortland are closed due to a crash involving a tractor-trailer.
The highway is shut down to southbound traffic at Exit 10 (Cortland/McGraw) due to the tractor-trailer blocking both lanes, according to New York State Police.
State police and the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office are on the scene.
