Clarence J Urban

Clarence J. Urban was born to Albert and Anna Urban in Robstown, Texas, on July 22, 1930, and left this earth to be with his Lord and Savior on July 8, 2021, at the age of 90. Clarence graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1948 and then attended Del Mar College. He worked for two years with civil service at the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station and then became employed with Southwestern Bell/AT&T. He was drafted in the U.S. Army in 1951 and served in telecommunications until 1953 when he was honorably discharged at which time, he returned to Corpus Christi to continue his lifelong career with Southwestern Bell/AT&T. On April 11, 1953, he married his childhood sweetheart, Elizabeth Ann Wendt. They were married for 58-1/2 years until her death. They had two daughters, Deborah and Lucinda.

Lafayette Parish man wants payback from U S after he s injured unloading cargo at Navy base

David Whitmore for the plaintiff LAFAYETTE - A Layafette Parish man sued the United States through the Department of the Army and the Defense Logistics Agency after he was allegedly injured delivering helicopter propellers to the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station in Texas.  According to documents filed on March 23 in Lafayette federal court, plaintiff Kobiashii Jackson was delivering the cargo on March 28, 2019. A station employee was operating a forklift to remove the propellers from Jackson s semi-trailer, when the propellers reportedly fell off the forklift suddenly, striking the plaintiff and causing severe injuries and disabilities, including spine and head injury.  Jackson seeks restitution from the defendants for the negligence that reportedly caused the incident. He is represented by Blake Jones Law Firm LLC of New Orleans.

The Navy has asked the state to shutter part of Ayers Street for the next month as it does runway work at Cabaniss Airfield. The Texas Department of Transportation on Tuesday closed a section of Ayers on the Southside, also known as Business 286.  Ayers will be closed from just south of Pollex Avenue, about 1,000 feet south of Saratoga Boulevard, to the Greenwood Drive underpass at state Highway 286, which leads to the J.C. Elliott Collection Center. Cabaniss Airfield was an auxiliary field for Corpus Christi Naval Air Station during World War II and the Korean War. It closed in 1958 and is now used for touch-and-go circuit training of aircraft from NAS Corpus Christi.
