Whataburger Field, La Palmera become COVID-19 vaccine clinics

The home field of the Corpus Christi Hooks baseball team also was the backdrop of the Corpus Christi-Nueces County Public Health District s latest effort to administer more COVID-19 vaccines. Personnel were at the stadium giving shots on Monday and Tuesday. Health officials also organized a vaccination clinic at La Palmera mall, inside the former Charming Charlie clothing store. First and second doses of Moderna were distributed at both locations. The clinics were open to any adult over age 18.

Nueces County pauses use of Johnson & Johnson vaccine

Nueces County is pausing the use of Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines upon state and federal guidance while authorities investigate six severe cases of blood clots in women who received the vaccine. The Texas Department of State Health Services said Tuesday that it’s asking COVID-19 vaccine providers to pause the use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine upon the recommendation of federal agencies. The Corpus Christi-Nueces County Public Health District had 300 Johnson & Johnson vaccines remaining from a 3,000-dose shipment delivered last week, City Manager Peter Zanoni said. The health district is transferring Moderna and Pfizer vaccines to some providers that only had Johnson & Johnson, public health director Annette Rodriguez told the Corpus Christi City Council on Tuesday.

County Health district to administer 18,000 COVID-19 vaccines next week

The Corpus Christi-Nueces County Public Health District is set to administer 18,000  COVID-19 vaccines next week to individuals 18 years and older. The Health District will host four vaccination clinics April 5-8 and distribute both the Moderna and Johnson and Johnson vaccines.  Here is a schedule of the clinics: On Monday, April 5, 3,000 Moderna vaccines will be given at the Boys and Girls Club of the Coastal Bend between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.  On Tuesday, April 6, 2,000 Johnson and Johnson vaccines will be distributed from 9 a.m. to noon at the Richard M. Borchard Reginal Fairgrounds. Also at the fairgrounds, 2,000 Moderna vaccines will be distributed from noon to 4 p.m.
