The report stated the Governor General’s daughter, Adi Litia Kaunilotuma Cakobau, was restless after reading about orphans in this newspaper and asked her parents if she could adopt one. It read the Government House was a hive of activity and excitement as it prepared to welcome home an adopted child. According to Fiji Broadcasting Corporation (FBC), Colonial War Memorial Hospital general surgeon Ilaitia Delasau said Wednesday that the prevalence is very alarming, demanding urgent attention. Delasau noted that one of the major contributors to diabetes in Fiji is the lifestyle including the food eaten on a daily basis.
