The Morrison governmentâs women problems continued this week as the former Liberal MP Julia Banks hit the headlines with shocking allegations of her treatment by her former colleagues, and her memorable description of the prime minister as âmenacing, controlling wallpaperâ.
Her freshly printed memoir, Power Play, also peels back the dank curtain on the occasional symbiosis between politicians and the Canberra press gallery.
In the book she reveals how in 2016, while still in the party, she found out how the Liberal party sometimes operates after giving a speech on female quotas.

Sky News contributor Caleb Bond says it is “astonishing” how many “heartless” things state governments manage to get away with in the name of “keeping us healthy”.
“I'm not going to let this stuff go and nor should you,” he said.
“What I'm talking about is the dark side of these lockdowns and the draconian rules that just keep on keeping on.
“The number of inhumane, heartless, gutless and disgusting things state governments have been allowed to get away with in the name of keeping us healthy is astonishing."
Mr Bond said the case of Mark Kilian and his wife being refused travel into Queensland four times to visit Mark’s dying father “attracted international attention for its callousness”.
“It took a massive media campaign and pressure from the prime minister for Queensland to finally let them in last week,” he said.
