Calcasieu Parish deputies have arrested a Lake Charles man after he allegedly shot an acquaintance following a dispute.
Deputies responded at 10:30 p.m. Thursday to a residence on Dobbertine Road in Lake Charles in reference to a shooting.
40-year-old Derek J. Ogea was located with an apparent gunshot wound to his arm and chest. He was brought to an area hospital where he died from his injuries Friday, police say.
Detectives say they learned an acquaintance of the victim, 29-year-old Jeremy Mulkey, was possibly responsible for the shooting. He was located and, while being questioned at the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff s Office, he confirmed to deputies that he shot Ogea after having a dispute with him.

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Two Lake Charles men have been arrested after being accused of stabbing a victim on 18th Street, according to Lake Charles Police.
Capt. Kevin Kirkum says police were called to the 18th Street near Center Street in reference to a stabbing around 3:53 p.m. on Feb. 16, 2021.
Officers determined that the victim had been walking along 18th Street when he was stopped by two men in a vehicle. The victim and the two men got into an argument leading to one of the two men taking out a knife and stabbing the victim.

A Moss Bluff man was arrested Thursday on child pornography charges following a joint investigation by Louisiana State Police, the Louisiana Attorney General s Office, and Homeland Security.
Troopers say 21-year-old Jack Alvin Richard was arrested for downloading and distribution of pornography involving juveniles.
According to State Police, an investigation revealed that Richard was allegedly downloading and distributing photographs and videos of child pornography.
After a review of the evidence, State Police say investigators determined that Richard was in possession of images and videos of child sex abuse.

WESTLAKE, La. (KPLC) - A man is accused of jumping into a car and pulling a gun at a red light in Westlake Thursday, officials there say.
Westlake Police Chief Chris Wilrye says the suspect and victim knew each other.
The victim was able to get away safely, according to information posted by the Westlake Police Department.
