The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office has recently been made aware of numerous scam calls from someone claiming to be a representative of Amazon alleging that someone has tried to place unauthorized charges on personal Amazon accounts and attempting to have the callers visit random websites to include ww.anydesk.com.
The calls are from local area numbers so that it appears people within the county may be calling. This tactic is commonly known as phone spoofing and it occurs when a scammer makes a false number appear on your caller ID, in an attempt to impersonate someone else.

UPDATE 1/6/2021: Following the press release of the ‘Stolen Boy Scout Trailers’, Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Detectives received numerous tips from the community which revealed the location of the 1st stolen trailer.
The trailer was subsequently recovered on Dec. 23, 2020 and had been spray painted black. Additional leads ultimately led to the recovery of the 2nd trailer on Dec. 31. The 2nd trailer was found covered in cardboard disguising the Boy Scouts of America insignia. Both trailers were recovered in St. Leonard.
At this time, it appears nothing is missing from the trailers other than the defacing of the trailer’s exteriors.
A pedestrian crossing Solomons Island Road was killed by a vehicle on Christmas Eve, according to police in Calvert.
Kenneth Lorne Elliot, 51, succumbed to his injuries following the Prince Frederick crash, which police say occurred shortly before 6 p.m. on Dec. 24 in front of Walmart.
An investigation found that Elliott had been wearing dark clothing, and attempted to cross Solomons Island Road when he was struck by a black Mercedes which was traveling southbound.
Elliot was transported from the scene in critical condition, and later died. The driver of the Mercedes, who was not identified, âshowed no signs of impairmentâ as he remained on the scene, according to police.
Friends gathered Saturday at high noon the day after Christmas to mark the spot where Kerri Lyn Clark died a few days earlier in a car crash.
On Dec. 23 at around 4:30 p.m., Clark, 50, of Chesapeake Beach was driving a 2012 Ford Escape and traveling east on Route 260 near Journey Drive in Owings, when her vehicle was struck by a 2005 Hyundai Elantra driven by Christopher Fuller, 34, of Dunkirk. According to the Calvert County Sheriffâs Office, as a result of the collision Clarkâs Ford was pushed across the center line and into the path of a 2013 Hyundai CR-V.
Investigators reported that Clark died from her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
