Coldwater boys 3rd, girls 5th at Onsted Track Invitational

By Jim Measel May 7, 2021 | 10:46 PM ONSTED, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater boys were third while the girls were fifth on Friday at the Onsted Wildcat Booster Track Invitational, Adrian Madison won the boys meet with 93 1/2 points followed by Hillsdale Academy with 85 points and Coldwater with 80 points. Both of the Coldwater wins came in the field events. Kenny Cramer won the shot put with a distance of 41 feet, seven and a quarter inches while Deandre Douglas finished first in the pole vault by clearing 11 feet, six inches. Onsted edged Hillsdale Academy by two points to win the girls meet 115 1/2 to 113 1/2. Clinton was third with 70 points followed by Adrian Madison with 69 points and Coldwater with 39 points.

(Photo credit: Prater Studios) ADRIAN, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School gymnastics team traveled to Adrian on Friday night for a conference match up against the Adrian Maples. Upon arrival, the team was notified that it would be a quad meet including Adrian, Monroe, and Ann Arbor. Coldwater was able to make some key lineup changes due to the changed competition format to come out on top, securing the win against Adrian, as well as the other two teams. The Cardinals posted 128.2 points, followed by Monroe with 127.35 points. Adrian was next at 70.55 points, followed by Ann Arbor with 19.6. Coldwater is now 3-1 in the conference.

Cardinal gymnastics team lose at Saline, earn 5th qualifying score

(Photo credit: Prater Studios) SALINE, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Lady Cardinal gymnastics team dropped a conference match up at Saline on Tuesday night 133.175 to 127.05. Coldwater earned their fifth straight qualifying score in the loss. “We had to piece together a lineup because several of the girls sat out due to injury or illness,” explained Coach Kim Nichols.  “While we weren’t expecting the outcome, there wasn’t much else I could ask of the girls given the circumstances.”  Coldwater is now 2-1 in the conference. Coldwater’s Abby Travelbee won on the uneven bars with a score of 8.15. Layla Schoch was second place with her mark of 8.125.

Coldwater gymnastics team go over 130 points again, record 17 regional scores

Coldwater, MI, USA / WTVB | 1590 AM · 95.5 FM | The Voice of Branch County Feb 26, 2021 8:32 AM PLYMOUTH, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater’s girls gymnastics team collected their fourth straight team score of over 130 points on Thursday night at Plymouth but it wasn’t enough to take the win. The Plymouth Wildcats scored a 141.225 to 131.275 win. Coldwater Coach Kim Nichols said, “We took the opportunity to rest some of our gymnasts and allow others to pick up their individual qualifying scores. Since we qualified as a team already, I wanted to take the opportunity to get as many individuals earning their scores as we possibly could.”

11th annual Stick it for a Cure gymnastics meet set for Saturday

Courtesy of Stick it for a Cure COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Saturday’s Stick it for a Cure cancer fundraiser at Coldwater High School will be different but the purpose remains the same. The 11th annual gymnastics meet and silent auction that raises awareness and funding for cancer patients and survivors in Branch County is being hosted once again by the Coldwater High School Gymnastics Team. All proceeds from the event will benefit the ProMedica Coldwater Cancer Center. Last year, the Stick It For A Cure Silent Auction raised money to buy new recliner chairs for cancer patients to sit in while receiving chemotherapy.
