Since March 10, when the first death was reported, 17,467 Michiganders have died from the acute respiratory illness. A Breakdown of COVID-19 Data The 24-hour data increase shows that 4,371 more people have contracted the virus. In addition, there were 38 new deaths. On Saturday, May 23 the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services also announced changes to how COVID-19 testing data is reported to make it more accurate and relevant as the state continues to expand diagnostic testing.

LAWRENCE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) A new public health education facility has opened in Van Buren County, and is situated in the Village of Lawrence. Previously, in the fall of 2019, the Van Buren/Cass District Health Department and Van Buren Intermediate School District (VBISD) broke ground on the site of Van Buren Tech in Lawrence. Together, officials say the organizations are embarking on a groundbreaking and innovative partnership in the form of the Public Health Education Facility.

Since March 10, when the first death was reported, 17,429 Michiganders have died from the acute respiratory illness. A Breakdown of COVID-19 Data The 24-hour data increase shows that 3,676 more people have contracted the virus. In addition, there were 105 new deaths. Officials say 48 of those deaths were identified later through reviews of vital records. On Saturday, May 23 the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services also announced changes to how COVID-19 testing data is reported to make it more accurate and relevant as the state continues to expand diagnostic testing.

A Breakdown of COVID-19 Data The weekend data increase includes numbers from Sunday and Monday, and shows that 6,524 more people have contracted the virus. In addition, there were 35 new deaths. On Saturday, May 23 the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services also announced changes to how COVID-19 testing data is reported to make it more accurate and relevant as the state continues to expand diagnostic testing.
